Mothers Day

Hey everyone! Hope your week is going great so far! I thought I would share with you a couple Mothers Day cards I created this year!!

I had so much fun with this one! I even demoed it for National scrapbooking day at my local craft store (using the Misti of course). I had gotten this newer flower set from MFT and it was so cheery I instantly thought of Mothers Day and spring! Pulled out my Wplus9 inks cause they are my ultimate fav! And last but not least just had to use my new concord and 9th stamp set! oh that font is so rocking my world!!!

My youngest son has an obsession with butterflies and whenever he is "helping" me in my craft room I have to stamp butterflies! Thats how this card came to be. He was still a little sad that they aren't purple but said it was ok! I on the other hand loved the colour combo! Once again some fabulous Wplus9 inks, butterflies are from PTI and of course that beautiful sentiment set from Concord and 9th!

Hope you enjoy! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Mothers Day shaker card fun

Hey everyone!! Well its getting closer to that special month where we celebrate all you wonderful moms out there!!!

So for years now I've been making cards for Academy Florists in Winnipeg MB. They have some wonderful ladies in there are beyond talented when it comes to flower arrangements!! I'm always so honoured they want to share my cards with their beautiful creations!!!

Mothers Day is a super buys time for them…heres a peek at one of the cards Ive recently made for the shop!!!

I recently jumped on the bandwagon of shaker cards and I can't seem to jump off!!! they are just so fun to do!!

This one was pretty easy to put together! Using that butterfly frame die from Wplus9. I stamped the sentiment on acetate using white stazon ink…my first time ever and I'm in love!!!! Will for sure be seeing more of that!!!

Once all the pieces were die cut stamped and glued together,  I added 2 layers of foam tape on the back on the shaker box part…filled it with some fun sequins. Once it was on the card I added the silver butterfly just for some added depth to it!! A pretty clean and simple yet interactive card!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

partial die cut mom

Hey Everyone!! Hope everyones good today!! Here some more cards from the latest Online Card Class…I'm really liking these fun interactive cards!

It took  me a while to find the right die, in the video Julie Ebersole said that block letters work the best with this technique…however I don't have any big enough in my stash….but this one actually worked out really well, probably cause its all one  height. i did have to cut out the the space under the letters to make it proper tho!! (easy peasy with that good ol craft knife). I decided to use patterned paper for the card instead of stamping. I had an idea in  mind of how I wanted it to look and this was the easiest way for me to achieve that!!

Anyway hope you enjoy and I hope you had as much fun in class as I did!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Since my may Simon Says card kit arrived with the distress ink and blender I've been trying out stuff! I pulled out this Heidi Swapp stencil (again, used it in another mothers day card with embossing paste) and just starting inking! I love how bold and eye catching it is!!

mom

I just seriously can't get enough of these Wplus9 flowers!! So happy to have this set in my collection!! This card was also my first card using embossing paste!! Something everyone should try!! I used a Heidi Swapp stencil I found at Michaels just to add a soft detail to the card!

I used distress ink on the flowers and leaves so I could do a tiny bit of watercolouring. I think I love distress ink!! Not sure thats a good thing or not…have enough stuff in my room already!

Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by!

three thirds

I've been on a Wplus9 kick lately. Just recently got all her new inks added to my collection and a few new stamp sets as well!!! So yesterday I pulled everything out and started creating!

I was very intrigued with this months CAS-ual Friday challenge. Three things on 1/3 of a card front. So I started die cutting out the flowers and stamping away!! I'm very happy with this clean and simple creations!! Three flowers with a three word sentiment on 1/3 of the card seems to be complete!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

mothers day and gelatos

Today I was really wanted to use my Faber-Castell Gelatos…I've had them for a while now and have hardly played with them! So I pulled them out and created this beauty!

So with this card I took a 3 by 4 1/4" paper, white heat embossed the flowers and leaves on it then coloured with the gelatos spritzed it with water and took a paint brush to blend it all in, let it dry then wipe of access with a baby wipe (Instagram pic below showing each stage). Adhered it to the old olive paper then onto the eggplant. Once that was done I heat embossed the sentiment over top...

This card is a fav of mine…so many easy elements to give it that classic look!!
Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!!

stripes

Taking a look out there on Pinterest, its obvious that stripes are the thing! So I figured why not take a stab at doing one of my own!

It was a really easy card to make, I pulled out my PTI watercolour wonder stamp set (closest stamp set I had to making stripes) and a few of my fav colours and this is what was created!!!

Mothers day Begins!

When I was making this card I wanted it to have a soft and serene feel to it as well as some hints of trendy. Not to sure if I fully succeeded, you can be the judge of that I suppose!

The trendy aspect of this card is from the Wplus9 trend watch challenge. I did a little misting and used some really tiny and soft looking sequins as well as I white heat embossed the feathers on water colour paper then did a little water colouring over top!

The colour combo is from this weeks Colour Me…! challenge. This is the reason for the soft and serene look to the card!!

And thirdly I used the Retro Sketches challenge which is where the tag on the card came to be!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!!!

Think I've mentioned already that I'm working on Mothers Day cards for a local flower shop back home!! Heres another peek at a creation I made for her to choose from!!!

I really love this flower set from PTI. Took me a while to come up with the proper color configuration for the card. Wanted it bright and classic!! Think I pulled it off?!@ I bumped up the stamped paper and the sentiment is sunken behind to give a different effect. And the ribbon...well I couldn't resist!! Hope you enjoy!!

Retro Sketches 56

Yes this is my second post for today...but I had this card and wanted to get the sketch in on time. What can I say?? I'm enjoying these fun challenges over the past week! I thought my mojo was gone then I look around and yet another creation to be made!!!

So this card challenge is from the Retro Sketches blog I came across while doing the ColorQ challenge in my previous post!! I really like this sketch too and thought I could pull out some fun textured things..well 1 textured material anyway! I bought this burlap and its been on my desk staring at me! Was so happy to finally use some of it!!!

So again Happy Easter to you all!! I promise no more posts today!!!!

Mothers Day!

Hey everyone and happy Friday to you!! Todays card is for a couple of challenges with the first one being for Clean and Simple blog FTL 234..this week is my first ever to be a contributor to the blog (other than in my own time) so make sure to swing on by there!!! Secondly I decided to partake in the ColorQ 182 challenge for the first time ever too! Thought I would continue with the firsts :)

I also decided to try something a little different for me...I wanted to keep it simple but wanted there to be the portion in the middle with a little bit of texture. So first off I stamped the Happy Mothers Day then used versa mark and clear embossing powder of top. Just a nice little subtle detail there!! Also for whatever reason I've been into making my own flowers! I like the way they look!!

Anyway thats all for now! Hope you all have a great Easter weekend!!! We are just starting our spring break here with the kids! Enjoying the great outdoors and wonderful weather!!
