Have a beautiful day (august pin sites challenge)

The last few days Ive had some time to go and create…most cause my kids were out playing in the dirt pile before it disappeared (if you follow me on Instagram you would have seen the pics!)

I was in need of some inspiration and Ellen Hutson was posting pics from their latest challenge and some fabulous cards out there I tell you! August Pin Sites challenge! So heres my take on it!

When I started this card I pulled out the colours from the challenge…started with the pink, stamped 3 of the bigger flowers (Bold Blooms) then the yellow and the leaves thrown in there to fill in the spots! I knew I wanted to do the vellum overlay but with just the stamped image it wasn't enough (in my minds eye). So I had out my ink blending tools and just added some of the same colour to the just in a lighter way to  each of the flowers and leaves. I then adhered the vellum panel over top with some stick it paper stamped the sentiment and after those 2 pieces were together I trimmed down the panel to 4 wide and the regular 5.5 long. found some fun paper for the side (it came in one of the simon says stamps card kits) added some  Pretty Pink Posh sequins on top the vellum and was completely happy with the final project!

Sorry for the long ramble! Hope you enjoy!!

you got this!!

I was going through different blogs this morning and came across the CASE Study Challenge blog. Ive seen the wonderful cards from this blog before but was always intimidated by it for whatever reason. Really after thinking about it, isn't this how us card makers make cards?? We see other cards and make our own version of it?? Well thats what I did today!! I had feathers on the brain so I ran with it!!!

I recently got these new feather dies and wanted to put them to use!! So to start I had actually die cut both sizes of the feathers out of scrap white paper and vellum, then decided that I wanted to die cut it out of the card front and do so inlaying. I angled it a little cause I wanted the feathers to look like they were tied. I thought the bigger white feather needed to be a little more poppy so I pulled out my perfect pearls and painted it. I did the same with the vellum feather as well!! I then added my sentiment with white embossing powder, then set the other feathers down on top once I had tied them together. Thought it needed a little something else and so I drew on the stitched markings. Not a norm for me but added that little detail I felt was missing. And of course some sequins!!!

I rally like how it turned out and today for the first time wasn't initiated by this challenge!! Hope you all take the time to check it out!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello embossing!

Hello everyone!! Hope everyone had a great week and is looking forward to a lovely weekend! I know we are! Nice and hot here!!

Todays card has a couple of inspirations. First off this weeks Clean and Simple sketch that I design for as well as this wonderful video from non only that Jennifer McGuire

This card took  me a few attempts…I was moving colours around to see what worked..then on this last one I decided to grab which ever ink was closest and work my way out! Turned out not to bad I don't think ;) There was really no rhyme or reason to where I stamped or decided to over lay I just went for it!! After all the stamping of the triangles was done I wanted to matt this piece so instead of digging through my stash of paper I decided to use the purple ink I had used in the triangles. So I got out an ink blending tool and inked up the sides of the paper then adhered the top piece. In the clean and simple sketch there is a bow over top of the sentiment..I wasn't really sure that a bow would work with the geometric look I had going on, so I grabbed my white twine and started wrapping a left over piece I had. Then added a small bow…now onto the sentiment. My first attempt at the sentiment it was grey and I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder, but once I had glued it onto the card it didn't pop again. And I used some pretty heavy duty adhesive so she wasn't coming off..so I took another die cut hello inked it black then did the same thing with the clear heat embossing and glued it on over. This card is also for the this weeks Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. But when it was all put together I looked it over and thought it needed some more embossing to it! So I took out the single triangle stamp from the set and picked a few random ones to clear emboss over! Its a very subtle detail but I love when it sparkles in the daylight.

I hope you enjoy todays card! Thanks so much for stopping by

Monochromatic

Hey everyone!! Haven't posted much this week due to having some company in town!! And I've been working on some wedding invitations too…but I did find time to make this card!!

I've really been into water colouring lately…not only cause it seems to be the trend right now, but my husband has pulled out his supplies and has started to paint again! So he is my inspiration for this card, as well as the Colour Me…! for the colour choice!

I used water colour paper and my aqua painter with the old olive ink. Love how it comes out lighter than the actual green!! Embossed my stamp on to vellum and topped it off with some old olive washi tape from the Stampin Up! winter occasional catalogue.

Hope you enjoy and thanks so much for stopping by!

you're so tweet

I was looking around on the Simon Says Stamps page looking for some items and saw they have monthly card kits., sure I've noticed them before but I fell in love with everything that came in the October 2013 one! I continued looking through past kids and found that there wasn't one I didn't like. So I bit the bullet and signed up! So here is the first card I created with the October kit!!

A friend and I both decided to sign up for the kits so we could do projects together...our rule was  making sure we use the embellishments that come with the kit...There are more than what you see here but I did use them!

Hope you all have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

You're sweet!

Well life has been turned upside down again...so there hasn't been as much creating going on as I would like!! But I did find this card I made weeks ago that I thought I would share!!!

For the flowers and leaves I used moulding clay. Mixed in some glitter rolled it out thin waited for it to dry (a complete day minimum for sure) then used the dies to cut out the flowers and stamped on it! Its a very fun extra texture for the card!!!

You make me smile

There was just something about this set that captured my eye..Its not my typical style but I had to have it! Was so happy when it arrived in the mail today too!! Had some quiet time with kids at school and babe having a very nice long nap!!! I decided to incorporate it with this weeks ColourQ cause I LOVE the combo! Its so fresh and and summery and plain ol' fun! Thats just my opinion anyway :)

I was also excited to use some sequence on this card...everywhere I look there are so many cards using them...Love the little extra bling it give...and it matched perfectly with the red! How could I not add them???

Oh and PS...
as I've mentioned before I often have a hard time making cards with colour combos as opposed to sketches..but a few weeks back I did make it to the ColourQ Courtier!! This is the card! It made my day! Thanks for the great honour!!!

Hope you have a wonderful day!!
